If you're tight on the budget and want a mobile phone just for taking and making calls... the Nokia 1680 is the best one I could recommend.

The Nokia 1680 isn't a high feature phone, of course, but it's a practical phone if you're low on budget. It's a good phone for kids or your grandparents.

It is has great build and isn't easy to break plus the menu system is easy enough for your kids to understand. Its a stripped down version of all the latest mobile phone today and its the better version of the Nokia oldies.

Anyway, here are the details for this budget phone.

Design:

The Nokia 1680 looks simple and reliable. It's slim and its easy to hold, it is only 108 x 46 x 15 mm but weighs only 73.7 grams. It's easy to keep and feels good to hold. The has a TFT Screen. It displays 65 thousand colors in 128 x 160 pixels resolution. It’s a bit small but enough to see the messages. The colors are vibrant and the screen displays images really well. They keypads are well suited and it’s easy to press.

Camera:
There’s nothing much about the camera features of the Nokia 1680, but if needed it can provide. It only has VGA Camera, not much I know but it’s good enough for taking pictures in close range and taking video clips.

Multimedia:
There nothing much to say about the multimedia features of this budget friendly phone either. It only has a Video Player, but its for checking and replaying your recorded videos. It doesn’t have a Music Player nor an FM Radio either.

Calling:
For a cheap costing mobile phone, it’s only good if you’re within the city when calling. Well, you can bring it to other places as long as they support Dual Band GSM 900 and GSM 1800 frequencies. Signal is still dependent on network providers.

Memory:
Just for saving messages and contacts, the Nokia 1680 is more than good enough. It has 32 Mbytes Flash Memory and 4 Mbytes SD RAM.

Not all cheap mobile phones have great battery life but not this phone. It can stand up to 7.6 Hours Talk Time or 424 Hours Standby. That’s very important and this is what makes a phone useful.

LG KT770 - Good Looks And Good Performance

When it comes to mobilephone aesthetics, I'm always amazed by LG's designs. A lot of them really look cool. Even their now old LG Chocolate still looks gorgeous. What's more gorgeous is their latest LG Crystal; mesmerizing beauty and all of its greatness, it's really captivating to look at.

For me, LG phones are all about cool looks. The features are good but it becomes mediocre when compared to their counterparts on other mobilephone companies. It was like this ever since the LG Chocolate and we can't blame them. It's a very good marketing plan and they can't seem to fail in making awesome designs.

Well, here's another good looker form of course, LG. This is the LG KT770. It is a vertical slider form phone. It's not a touchscreen phone as you might have guessed. It's a plain slider Smartphone and of course its quite affordable considering how most of LG's newest phones cost. You can however check for cheap free line rental offers online so you can get some decent discounts.

Here's are bits and pieces of information I could gather about this phone.

Design:

The LG KT770 is no doubt a head turner. It has a sleek body casing that reeks of awesomeness. It is a 111 x 51.5 x 15 mm in size. The slider form doesn't only make it look cool but it also allows good calling and texting experience as it is easy to hold and use. slider designed, the phone naturally has large screen else we'd be really disappointed as to where the space would've gone to.

The screen is an 2.8 inch TFT 262k Color Screen in 240 x 320 pixels resolution, displays clear images and vibrant colors. User themes of the user interface perfectly fits the color of the casing making it look sophisticated but definitely easy to use.

The screen isn't touchscreen but the Navigation Pad is touch sensitive, just like the oldie but still good, LG Chocolate. It adds a sense of sophistication and it makes the KT770 stand out, more so in a disco party where it is dark because the keys will be glowing brightly.

Communication:

It can do SMS (Text Messaging) and MMS (Multimedia Messaging) also EMS (Enhanced Messaging). It also has a predictive text functionality which is most preferred by busy texters. It also has Instant Messaging.

The phone is good for calling anywhere in downtown, a big city, out of town or in a different country! It has a Quad Band network connectivity, utilizing four frequencies in GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900. You can also have convenient video calls in HSDPA 2100 speed.

Multimedia:

It's got a nice music player able to play common music files. The phone has got pretty good speakers that outputs good quality music. You can also watch videos or play some Java Games.

Memory:

Has good memory, good enough for storing massive amounts of messages or a lot of contacts. It has a basic memory of 120MB plus MicroSD memory card, supports up to 16 Gbytes.

Internet connectivity:

The phone can also serve you as browser allowing you to surf the net at high speed rates. It has 3G HSDPA, WLAN Wifi, EDGE and GPRS technologies which is commonly implemented in Smartphones to allow fast Internet data transfers. It has a WAP Browser able to view XHTML and HTML, you can easily access the Internet and browse around using it.

Nokia Dreams Of Nanotechnology - Nokia Morph

A science fiction? Might be. But maybe 20 years from now we'll be using these kinds of devices! Don't forget that just a few decades ago that mobilephones was a laughable concept. Everyone laughed when our favorite Agent 007 picked up a wireless phone and started talking! But look at us now, always carrying wireless phones called mobilephones which is now almost as small as a matchbox.

Here's a concept that will likely blow people away by disbelief or be amazed and get excited. It is the Nokia Morph, it is an idea of creating a bendable mobilephone and that it is self cleaning, transparent and is transparent. Very sci-fi like.

It was introduced last year in February 25, 2008 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. It was a gathering of ideas and imagination to conceptualize future advancements such as this. This will spark more ideas and more innovations by not only Nokia but by other mobilephone companies as well. Here are the concept for the the Nokia Morph.

Flexibility

Basically, as the name suggests, the Nokia Morph has a flexible design capable of taking various forms of shapes suited to a user's need. You can fold it or bend it and this will make it more easy to keep it. It should also be made of recyclable if not ecologically friendly.

Self Cleaning

We all have problems and frustrations on keeping our precious phones good looking. This idea though is quite complicated (isn't everything?). The “nanoflowers” are the ones going to be responsible in self preserving the phone. It should repel dust, water and even fingerprints. This will greatly reduce wear and tear and will not only make it look clean and sleek but also makes it last longer for use.

Advanced power sources

We already use Solar Power and the idea is to implement it into this design making the mobilephone capable of recharging itself. The “nanograss” should be able to harvest energy from the Sun and use it to power the device. Its a great concept and it can also be used on buildings and even vehicles if this will be realized.

Sensing the Environment

While this may be a bit off. Nanosensor would be able to analyze the environment from the air around us to the fruit you are going to ingest! Amazing and seems a bit silly. The nanosensors will be able to motivate us to do something about the environment since we would now be more aware of what happens around us. This will keep us more aware of our health and well being.

Transparency

This will make devices which uses nanotechnology look good. This will fulfill the sci-fi looks by what we see on the movies. Along with clean aesthetics, the Nokia Morph will also be a device that can take form or rather adapt the color or themes of the things you wanted it to look like. For example your handbag, take a photo of it and let the Morph adapt it and make a theme out of it. Matching your handbag, its an excellent fashion device!

Technology advancement is really rapid these days and we may not even realize it. It's certainly a posibility. Perhaps we would be using this sooner or a bit later. It's amazing how the human mind can come up with imaginary things and make them into reality. One things for sure though, first release of this kind is gonna have a soaring price tag. I hope this will have a lot of free line rental cashback deals! Haha maybe a cheap T-mobile line rental contract offer will do!
